Answers Question 1, 2 & 3 Answer: The scene depicted in the artwork shows Anubis (God of the Dead) adjusting an Egyptian sarcophagus. This is symbolic because the Anubis is the God of the Dead and his priests usually performed the mummification process. Question 4, 5, & 6 Answer: The marks on the walls are Egyptian hieroglyphs. This writing can be used for ceremonial purposes and can tell us about the deceased. The figure standing over the sarcophagus is the god Anubis. Anubis represents death and therefor, it is appropriate that he is fixing the mummy.

Important Notes II Egyptian hieroglyphs were also a form of Egyptian art. Tomb walls, as well as temple walls, and obelisks were filled with hieroglyphics. Obelisks were tall rectangular pillars that were pointed on top. These were monuments that Egyptians erected to show worship or decorate areas of importance.
