SNIPING TUTORIAL – BY TMAN THE IDEA: The objective of this tutorial is to create a sniping effect. To create the sniping effect you need to create a scope which fires just like in shooting games. Before you creating the effect, you must identify the number of shots and in what order the player is supposed to make. In this tutorial, you will be shown how to make this work for two shots, though it can easily be done for as many as you want.

SCOPE CREATION: To start off with the scope, create the design you want (usually crossed lines) and insert a donut shape over it. Next, insert a much larger donut, center it with the rest, send it to the back. By now it should be looking something like this:

TRIGGER CREATION: For the firing button, use a simple shape like square and type “Fire”. Make sure its in front of the scope. Once you are done, make three copies of the shape. Remove the lettering and lines. Make sure you can tell them apart so for this tutorial, each one is individually colored.

TARGETS + SCOPE: For Targets: Insert two circles, space them apart, and send them to back (behind the scope and triggers). Next, create a custom path for the scope that passes through each target once. Make sure its slow and doesn’t smooth start or end. (now for the tough part)

SCOPE ANIMATION: Now add the grow/shrink effect three times to the scope. Each grow should be 0.1sec long, and auto- reverse. Then make each grow trigger to the fire, first square, and second square.

TRIGGER ANIMATION: Now, add the “appear” and “disappear” effects to the two squares which you have triggered “grow” to (excluding the “fire” square). In this case, it will be the green and light green squares. Next, make them start with previous (the motion path) and intertwine as shown.

THIRD SQUARE: For the third square, which is the yellow one, needs to be black, 50% transparent, and has to be in the front of everything. Next, make the effects “appear” and “fade out” three times. Each time with one of the triggers we used in the grow example.

FINALIZING: Now, take the first two squares and make them both 99% transparent. Then bring all three to front and put them all on top of the “fire” square. Now you should be ready to test your animation!

THE END: These are the basics. Now all you have to do is add effects to those triggers. One example of something you can do will be adding to the existing triggers and to make a check mark appear each time you click when the scope is over a target. This idea can be applied to many things such as pass/fail messages and other effects that you only want it to happen when the target is hit. Good Luck with PowerPoint-ing! By Tman
