5 5 SituationSituation Brief description the current status of the organization – Where we are – Who is there Example: “The Colonial Forge High School Eagle Battalion is beginning preliminary planning for the annual Military Ball.”

6 6 Mission What is to be accomplished Lists the “Commander’s Intent” –What everyone is to do –Defines specific supporting roles –Provides staff guidance Example: (Mil Ball Planning) The Eagle Battalion will conduct the annual Military Ball in the April/May 2009 timeframe. The Commanders intent is that each staff section be responsible for planning and execution of their respective duties and responsibilities while concurrently coordinating with their staff counterparts to ensure that the event is successfully executed.”

7 7 ExecutionExecution How the mission will be accomplished –How will we get there –What we will do when we get there –Staff responsibilities –Required coordination between staff Example: (Mil Ball) “The Mil Ball will begin at 1730 hours with light refreshments, followed by opening of the Receiving Line, and the Welcome. The XO will serve as host and key planner with the primary staff assuming traditional functional responsibilities for their respective areas, in coordination with staff counterparts.”

8 8 Service Support Logistical support needed to accomplish the mission –Food –Transportation –Audio/Visual –Labor Example: (Mil Ball) “Cadets will be responsible for transporting themselves to the Military Ball. f ood service support will be provided by a contracted caterer and audio visual support will be provided by Colonial Forge High School. The Battalion S4 will be responsible for planning and coordinating all logistical support needed in support of the Military Ball.”
