Mental health – the scale of the problem: In any year, 1 in 3 people will experience some kind of mental health problem. At any one time, 1 in 6 working age people are suffering with a diagnosable mental health problem. Current estimates put the costs associated with mental health problems at 4.5% of GDP. W.A.T.U.D.A.T? Nationally – our strategy on Mental Health? Regionally – is there any way the Yorkshire & Humberside Region can do anything? At Local Authority or M.A.T./Trust level? At individual school level?

Some possibilities…. National/Regional Campaign on mental health issues; Publicise mental health issues; Conference motions; Industrial action strategy… Local/Individual establishment Stress Policies; Wellbeing Policies; Local campaigning; Training on mental health issues – management and staff (and kids?); Take action where necessary!
