How do plants grow from seeds?

Seeds Seeds come in many sizes, shapes, and colors. They can all grow a new plant.

Parts of a Seed Seed Coat: is the outside covering of the seed. It protects the seed. Seed Leaf: is the inside part of the seed. It contains stored food. Developing Plant: is the new plant.

Scattering Seeds Some seeds fall to the ground around the parent plant. Other seeds are scattered. To scatter means to spread in an irregular way!

Some are scattered by the wind.

Other seeds are scattered by water. Lily seeds float in lakes and streams

Animals can also scatter seeds.
