P1 Assignment 3 Daniel Russell

Why is information stored? Organisations can use Information for a variety of reasons, many of these reasons can both help the quality of the organisation, and the customers experience of the organisation. In effect information is something what makes things more knowledgable.

What types of information? There are three types on information these are: Tactical Operational Staratigic Depending on the financial state of the company one of the three options will be used, for example; If the company is low on money the tactical decision maybe be used, which maybe include things such as deals, and things long term, where the company will be in the future Tactical is usually where the company maybe will expand, such as buying a new building for a new shop, hence getting more business. This is also where you looks at other companies pricings and deals, and try to compete with that, and make it better.

Operational type of data are things such as day to day issues, etc… Overall information is used to make decisions inside the business, as explained there are three types of information that can control what the company will do. Information can be obtained form many places which include things such s internal departments, and external ones, which are run by governments. There are many places you can collect information such as: Inside the business, which is known as internal the information of sales etc… Outside the business, which is known as external information, which can include a varitity of information and one of these sources could be the government.

Human resources would be a sources of information for the following things: Pay roll Holidays Time tables, etc… Good information is usually information what is from reliable sources, such as from inside the business, or close working companies. This means that the data is reliable and can be used for the benefit of the company. Usually bad information is where the information maybe sourced from places like the public and places like this, this means that the data is unreliable, hence why it is bad data.

Information flow The information flow contains many things such as information for orders, Customers are the main concern and everything is basically powered by them. This also branches out to things like deliveries, orders etc… this diagram shows how the data is used, but basically the customers data drives the companies income.

There are two types of information and these are: Primary information, this is the information the company will collect, and it is a first hand view at what is there and what isn’t Secondary information, this is the information what is collected by other bodies, such as other companies, this is an easy way to collect information, as it is already there, and takes very little time and effort.

Why is information stored? The information stored by the database can make a huge improvement to the service the organisation provides to their customers, as they can determine where to make improvements and to highlight any areas that are performing well.

How is the information used? There are many reasons why a organisation may want to collect data as explained in the previous slide. The information within a database is growing and updated constantly. This information once inputted can be use to improve a customers experience by retaining information from previous visits giving a more personal service.

Why is information collected? The main reason for the information to be collected is to both get a grasp of what the service is like within the organisation, and to provide a better service to its customers.

How is the information used? The organisation can collect information from departing customers by asking them to complete a questionnaire (customer feedback). This information can then be used to identify any areas of improvement. This information will tell the organisation if the standards of the hotel and staff are being met - key performance indicators (KPI).

How is information used? The information held in the database can be used to provide information on: The hotels performance. Staff Guest feedback Cash flow Etc...

How is information used? The information collected by an organisation about employees is stored in a database will include information such as Their contact details Hourly rate of pay Next of kin details In fact any information relevant to the organisation

How is information used? All information collected by the database with regards to performance and customer feedback will help to improve the overall performance of the organisation. This information can be pulled from the database on a series of bespoke reports highlighting specific data of use to the organisation.
