The Romans left many different legacies to us today. We have inherited 2 many ideas and things from the Romans. 2 inherit: to receive something after someone dies Before we continue, let’s briefly discuss how I want you to take notes in history class this year.

Some of the legacies of Rome include: 2 inherit: to receive something after someone dies Main ideas (subje ct) Supporting details (information) Art Architecture and Engineering Writing and Language Government Law Statues, paintings and other types of art we have today are similar to Rome. Many of our buildings, roads and bridges, stadiums, and waterways are modeled after Rome. Rome’s language, Latin, gives us many word parts today in English. Rome also gave us Roman numerals. (I, II, III, IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X) We copied some of our early government from Rome’s early republic. (Example, senators) We base some of our laws off of old Roman ideas, like “innocent until proven guilty.”
