Kitchener Family Lawyer

 Types of Legal Disputes Relationship breakdowns, being charged with an offence, or pursuing someone for an unpaid debt. These types of cases sometimes involve sophisticated issues of law and complicated legislation. Sound knowledge of Court procedure, written arguments and extensive discovery are often required. In most instances an average person without legal training is unable to recognize the legal issues involved, institute litigation, or assert the appropriate defenses. In addition, the average person does not possess the skills needed to develop facts, argue law, negotiate settlements, or prepare pleadings.  Ontario’s Legal System A lawyer is the key to accessing the benefits of Ontario’s legal system and significantly improves one’s ability to secure a favorable outcome. The harm resulting from an unfavorable outcome of a legal dispute can be severe and affect you for years. In most disputes the opposing party likely will have aggressive legal representation available. It doesn’t make sense to try and save money by not using a lawyer. In fact, usually this strategy backfires and ends up costing you more in the long run.  My Objective My aim is to provide the best possible legal services to my clients. I am proud of the work that I perform for my clients and the satisfaction they express with my services. People generally want a lawyer who is knowledgeable, readily available, and responsive to their questions and concerns. These are attributes I try to cultivate in my law practice.

Family law covers everything that has to do with the legal obligations and rights of people in family relationships. Ordinarily I see aspects of family law that have to do with the breakdown of marriage and common law relationships, although I also deal with domestic contracts, which happen at the beginning of a relationship. Nobody can truly plan for his or her marriage to break down. As a Kitchener family and divorce lawyer, I deal with all stages of the separation process including: (a) Initial separation and divorce; (b) Division of property, including complex issues of pensions, business properties and other financially complicated issues; (c) Decisions about child care, and child and spousal support; and (d) Post-divorce modifications and variations after a couple has been separated for a period of time; My goal is always to get you through this time as efficiently as possible, so that you can begin the next stage of your life. For more information about separation, divorce, support, or to find out more about your rights and responsibilities under the Ontario Family Law Act, contact me by email or by calling 519-804-9521.

I focus on delivering premium quality services to all my criminal law clients because I understand how stressful it is to be charged with a criminal offence. I will do everything I can to bring about the best possible result, which for many people means avoiding a criminal record. I am happy to explain the entire process to you, including the nature of the charges and the consequences you might be facing. When you are charged with an offence you may feel a sense of disbelief and that you have been victimized. Sometimes innocent people get charged. That’s a fact of life. Usually you will have at least a few questions about your rights and what your options are. You might also have some questions about the criminal justice system and how things work. My main focus is on protecting your legal rights throughout the entire criminal process. I will endeavour to keep you informed every step of the way and to answer any questions you have. I can defend clients accused of a wide variety of criminal offences, including the one’s below just to name a few. Common Offences (a) Impaired Driving (blood alcohol over 0.08, marijuana, refusing to provide a breath sample, etc.); (b) Driving While Prohibited or Suspended and Dangerous Driving; (c) Thefts (including theft under and over $5000, as well as theft from employers); (d) Fraud, Falsifying an Employment Record; (e) Assaults (including domestic/spousal assault, sexual assault, aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm); (f) Drug Charges (including possession, trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking controlled substances such as marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamines); (g) Weapons Offences (possession of a concealed weapon; possession of prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, and related offences).

The majority of my law practice is family law and criminal law. However, I also practice some immigration law as well. This page will provide some general information about Canadian immigration law. Immigration & Refugee Law During my articles I was fortunate enough to do some immigration law. So I do have some familiarity with this area of law, and in particular with appealing unfavourable decisions. That said, I am also able to assist clients who want to apply for visa’s. It is a good idea to entrust a lawyer to do this for you instead of an immigration agent because lawyers have spent several years studying law in university and sometimes the success or failure of an application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada depends on navigating legal hurdles. By hiring a lawyer do it, you significantly improve your odds of being successful. The downside is that having a lawyer assist you with it costs more. Administrative law in general is a pet area of mine that I enjoy working in, so if you want to apply for a visa or appeal an unfavourable decision, please give me a call.
