A place to visit, enjoy, discover and invest in Raseiniai is one of Lithuania’s oldest settlements, with records of the city dating back to 1253. By the 15 th century it was an important mercantile centre. The most obvious and impressive architectural legacy of Raseiniai’s rich history is the Baroque Dominican church and monastery. Nearby Šiluva has been an important pilgrimage site for Catholics since the 17 th century. Raseiniai’s surroundings are picturesque, with rural tourism growing in the region. One popular event for visitors is the annual historical theatre festival, held every year on 6 July in a complex of ancient burial mounds. In terms of more modern pursuits, the site which draws the most interest is the newly renovated Horse track located just outside the city.
