PLANT EXPERIMENT BY SINEAD, JASPER, IRENE, ALEX
2
EXPERIMENTAL QUESTION What is the effect of vinegar and half vinegar, half water on how tall radish seeds grow?
3
HYPOTHESIS We thought that water would make the radish seeds grow the most because the water gives them the nutrients that they need to help them live, we also thought that vinegar would kill the radish seeds because of all the acidic properties.
4
PROCEDURE We started by putting 3 radish seeds in plastic cups that are filled halfway with soil. Then, we put 3 tablespoons of water in one, 3 tablespoons of vinegar in the another, and in the last one, we put one and a half tablespoons of vinegar and one and a half tablespoons of water, we repeated this every day for 10 days and recorded data every other day.

DATA TABLE DAY 1DAY 3DAY 5DAY 7DAY 9 WATERSMALL SPROUTS 2 CM SPROUTS AND 2 LEAVES 4 CM AND STARTING TO HAVE MORE LEAVES 8 CM AND HEALTHY 12CM VINEGARNO SPOUTS NO SPROUTS HALF WATER HALF VINEGAR NO SPROUTS

RESULTS WE FOUND OUT THAT THE ACIDITY IN VINEGAR IS TOO STRONG FOR THE PLANT AND THE VINEGAR IS MORE POWERFUL THAN THE WATER SO THE PLANT CAN’T GET THE NUTRIENTS IT NEEDS AND IT WILL DIE AFTER A LITTLE BIT WHEN THE VINEGAR GOES DOWN, ALSO THE VINEGAR COULD NOT GO THROUGH THE SOIL AND MIGHT NOT REACH THE PLANT SO EVEN IF IT DID HAVE THE NUTRIENTS THAT THE PLANT NEEDS, IT WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO SURVIVE. ONE MORE THING IS THAT THE BEST pH FOR RADISH SEEDS IS BETWEEN 6 AND 6.5 BUT THE pH OF VINEGAR IS 2.4
