Why Would a Student Use an Instructor’s Office Hour? Office hours visits are good for…. 1. To clarify a topic in lecture, or in your reading, that you do not fully understand. 2. To ask a question about a homework exercise. 3. To learn more about a topic that interests you. 4. You might want to later ask for a recommendation from the instructor; an instructor can write a better recommendation if he or she knows you. 5. To let the instructor know how you are doing!

Question: What are the differences between electronic hobbyists and electrical engineers Hobbyists build, assemble and demonstrate a working model of their projects, but they are usually building someone else's design. An engineer starts a design with a set of requirements (specifications) that not only describes what overall performance the design will exhibit (functional performance) but also delineates quantitatively all of the measurable parameters associated with the design and its constituent subassemblies. This set of specifications which evolves and matures as the design progresses, includes all the design parameters such as input and output signals at each circuit interface, all bias requirements, environmental constraints, etc., including tolerances (Ichiro Hashimoto CSUN professor in ECE)

Course Description ECE240: Introduction to the theory and analysis of electrical circuits; basic circuit elements including the operational amplifier; circuit theorems; dc circuits; forced and natural responses of simple circuits; sinusoidal steady state analysis and the use of a standard computer aided circuit analysis program. Consideration will be given to power, energy, impedance, phasors, frequency response and their use in circuit design.

Self-Reflection Would you say you tend to have a fixed mindset or growth mindset ? Think about the way you deal with challenges and obstacles. What is your view about effort ? How do you deal with criticism ? How do you view other peoples’ success ? Which mindset do you think would bring a person more success and more happiness in life ? If you see some of the fixed mindset traits in yourself, what could you do to change your mindset ?
