Famine and Warfare In 1315 – 1317 it rained – Crops failed – Cattle died – People died – = THE GREAT FAMINE !!! After the famine WAR brakes out Edward III (Engl) king of France. Hundred Years War (1337 – 1453)

Famine and Warfare Hundred Years War (1337 – 1453) – English Longbows, guns, cannons – Joan of Arc (French) (about 16 yrs old) Voices from Heaven Led French forces to victory Was captured by English forces Burned at the stake alive.

Black Death 1347 Terrible epidemic hit Europe – Bubonic plague – “Black Death” – About 1/3 of ALL European Died 1347 – 1352

The Spread of the Disease Began in Central Asia – Killed millions in Asia Made it’s way to S. Europe by the Black Sea Jewish People = Scapegoats – They were blamed for the spread of the disease – Began to be persecuted once more Serfs that were once unpaid began to ask for wages because of the increase of demand.
