1 Forest Schools Title – briefly explain project in one sentence Subtitle – briefly explain project partners involved Photo’s Other logos

2 Introduction Background Information Provide background information about the Forest School involved in the project – How many trained staff and to what level? How long has the Forest School run? What are the ages and number of children in the client group? Does the client group have any particular needs? Was this pilot to address any particular agendas for the school/organisation? (e.g. To improve literacy standards) Was the pilot supported by other organisations or working in partnership (e.g. Norfolk County Council) Aims of the pilot Give specific aims for your pilot. These should be measurable in some way, either qualitatively or quantitatively. Ideally, consider methods of collecting evidence before pilot starts. Methods of collecting evidence will vary depending on what information is needing to be collected which will depend on the aims. Methods may include – recorded observations of children during Forest Schools, marked pieces of work based on Forest Schools, photographs, feedback from parents, children etc.

3 Methodology The Forest School Session/s Outline the routine of the Forest School. Describe the site used, is it on school grounds or elsewhere? When did the sessions take place and how many? Were there any communications/twilights with parents/other staff beforehand etc? Was there any preparatory work done in the classroom? Was there any follow up work done in the classroom? What were the learning objectives of the session/s? It may be appropriate to insert lesson plans and/or links to the curriculum in this section If any other specific work linked to Forest Schools has been done in the classroom which directly links to the aims of the pilot (e.g. literacy unit producing writing linked to Forest Schools) the content and learning objectives should be discussed in this section.

4 Timetable of Actions It may be appropriate to list in this table all actions that have been taken to set up and run this Forest School pilot to provide a clear timeline. Any actions which have a written outcome (e.g. lesson plans, letters to parents, evaluation reports) should be referenced here and included as appendices with this evaluation. Example actions have been entered as a guide. 5 Table of Evaluative Techniques This table should comprise of a list of evaluation methods used in the pilot. Remember that the evidence collected should be linked to the aims of your pilot and be measurable. Example forms and finding should be referenced in this table and attached as appendices or within the main document. Remember to remove any children’s names in the findings. Blank formats for various evaluations are provided as an appendices to this template document. Examples have been entered in this table as a guide. 6 Photographic Evidence It may be appropriate to insert particular photographs of children doing particular activities, showing concentration, cooperation or physical skills, give photographs captions to emphasis these (evidence will be linked to pilot aims). Insert more pages if required. Please ensure any photographs used of children has parental consent.
7
7 Examples of Children’s work If pilot was to raise achievement in a particular area of development, it may be appropriate to add examples of children’s work. Writing could be scanned in and inserted. Photographs of practical work could be inserted etc.

8 Comparing Quantitative Data If in this pilot measurable data was collected (eg. moderated writing scores) it should be summarised and compared to control data in this section. Include tables or graphs if necessary. A discussion of what these results show should also be included. Any limitations with data collection (eg. small sample size, limits to control data etc) should also be stated as an indication of reliability of results.
9
9 Results of any Questionnaires/ Feedback If as part of the evaluative techniques have included questionnaires or interviews it may be appropriate to include the results here. This may be from the children, parents, supporting staff, head teacher etc. The pilot may include answers from different people, so use different headings eg. feedback from participating children, feedback from parents etc. Type in the questions and responses inserting as many slides as required.
10
10 Results Forest Schools Leaders perspective/findings should be discussed here. These findings may refer to any evidence accumulated (eg. overviews of sessions, feedback from children/parents, schema recording sheets, individual observations) and should address the original aims of the pilot. If any partners were involved with the pilot, there input could be included here also
11
11 Observations and implications – lessons learnt Based on results discussed, what are the implications of the pilot’s findings? If you were to do it again what would you do differently? What problems/difficulties were overcome? There may also be, unexpected findings or lessons learnt which should also be discussed. Any information which you think other Forest Schools practitioners would find useful should be stated here.
12
12 Conclusion A summary of this evaluation document on one slide. Include brief statement of methodology and aims of pilot. Bullet point results and findings which address original aims. Bullet point any other unexpected findings. State any limitations or anything you would do differently if done again.
13
13 The Future Briefly outline the next steps for this Forest School. Including any further research or pilots.

14 Appendices List appendices included with this evaluation. Ensure references correspond to where each appendix is mentioned in report.
