Rolesville High School Pursuing Higher Standards Graduation Pledge of Support to the Class of 2016 The class of 2016 asks that you commit/pledge your support for a dignified graduation ceremony; one that will inspire pride and fond memories in its participants. Graduation from high school is the culmination of one era of work and the unfolding of a new one in our life process. It is an honor and a privilege to participate in this ceremony. Because this is a formal ceremony, certain behavior is deemed appropriate. It should be noted that the graduation ceremony is optional. You are not required to participate in the ceremony to receive your diploma. Should you choose to be included in the graduation service, we ask that you sign this Pledge/Contract.

I do solemnly pledge to act my best at all times during the commencement ceremony. I will cross the stage in a dignified, respectful manner. 1.I will not do anything to distract from the ceremony as I wait my turn. I will not talk or yell out as my classmates receive diplomas. 2.I will not make gestures to the audience as I walk across the stage. 3.I will not run or dance across the stage. 4.I will not wear anything against the dress code as stated at the rehearsal and in the senior graduation information booklet. 5.I will not wear sunglasses at anytime. 6.I will not talk or yell as I walk across the stage. 7.I will not throw my hat at anytime. The “ Switching of the Tassel is the way to celebrate. 8.I will also remind parents, guardians, family members, and guest to show the same respect by refraining from yelling, especially when the names of the class are called for diplomas. 9.I will attend all mandatory senior events which includes all graduation practices and senior awards night. 10.I will exhibit good behavior during all practices in order to participate in the graduation ceremony.

I do pledge to meet these ten expectations and I understand that the following consequences will occur if this pledge is broken: a. The noncompliant student will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony. b. The disruptive student will be promptly removed from the ceremony. c. The student and his/her parents/guardians will be required to meet with the principal before the diploma will be issued.

GRADUATION HONORS CUM LAUDE: MEANS TO GRADUATE WITH “HONOR”: STUDENT(S) WITH WEIGHTED GRADE POINT AVERAGES (GPA) RANGING FROM 3.75 – 3.99. BLACK CORD MAGNA CUM LAUDE: MEANS TO GRADUATE WITH “GREAT HONOR”: STUDENT(S) WITH WEIGHTED GRADE POINT AVERAGES (GPA) RANGING FROM 4.0 – 4.249. SILVER CORD SUMMA CUM LAUDE: MEANS TO GRADUATE WITH “HIGHEST HONOR”: STUDENT(S) WITH WEIGHTED GRADE POINT AVERAGES (GPA) RANGING FROM 4.25 AND HIGHER. GOLD CORD

EXAM EXEMPTION SENIORS SHOULD PREPARE SERIOUSLY FOR ALL EXAMS. FOR SOME, IT COULD MAKE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GRADUATING AND NOT GRADUATING. FINAL EXAMS COUNT BETWEEN 20% (NON EOC) AND 25% (EOC) OF FINAL GRADES. SENIORS MAY BE EXEMPT FROM NON EOC FINAL EXAMS ONLY, IF THEY MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: A AVERAGE WITH 3 OR FEWER EXCUSED ABSENCES PER SEMESTER B AVERAGE WITH 2 OR FEWER EXCUSED ABSENCES PER SEMESTER C AVERAGE WITH 1 OR FEWER EXCUSED ABSENCES PER SEMESTER

EXAM EXEMPTION SENIORS ARE PERMITTED (2) COLLEGE VISITS PER YEAR. ADDITIONAL DAYS MISSED DUE TO VISITING A COLLEGE CAMPUS ON “COLLEGE DAYS” WILL BE CONSIDERED AN ABSENCE. ATTENDANCE WILL BE CALCULATED PER CLASS PERIOD. A STUDENT MUST BE PRESENT FOR AT LEAST ½ OF THE PERIOD (45 MINUTES) TO BE CONSIDERED PRESENT. SENIORS CANNOT BE EXEMPT FROM ANY EOC, CTE POST EXAMS OR NC FINAL EXAMS.

SENIOR PICNIC THURSDAY, MAY 26, 2016 RHS PRACTICE FIELD THE RHS PTSA, SENIOR CLASS ADVISORS AND SENIOR PARENTS HAVE PLANNED A SPECIAL AFTERNOON FOR THE CLASS OF 2016. ALL SENIORS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND. ENJOY AN AFTERNOON FILLED WITH FUN, FOOD, AND MUSIC WITH ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS FROM THE CLASS OF 2016. STUDENT ADMISSION IS FREE. BACCALAUREATE CEREMONY SUNDAY, JUNE 5, 2016 3PM ROLESVILLE BAPTIST CHURCH THE RHS PTSA, SENIOR CLASS ADVISORS AND SENIOR PARENTS HAVE PLANNED A SPECIAL NON-DENOMINATIONAL BACCALAUREATE SERVICE (A CELEBRATION THAT HONORS A GRADUATING SENIOR CLASS FROM A COLLEGE OR HIGH SCHOOL) FOR THE CLASS OF 2016. *THIS IS AN OPTIONAL GRADUATION EVENT. PARENTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND THE SERVICE WITH THEIR GRADUATING SENIOR.

LADIES: WEAR SIMPLE LIGHTWEIGHT DRESSES OR DARK DRESS SLACKS/SKIRTS (BLACK/NAVY) AND BLACK SHOES. DRESSES SHOULD NOT HANG BELOW THE GOWN. LADIES SHOULD WEAR SHOES WITH A LOW HEEL. DO NOT WEAR SANDALS, FLIP-FLOPS, TENNIS SHOES, STRAPLESS SHOES, OR COLORFUL HOSIERY. PLEASE WEAR MINIMAL JEWELRY. GENTLEMEN: WEAR DARK DRESS SLACKS, WHITE DRESS SHIRT, DARK DRESS TIE, BLACK DRESS SOCKS AND BLACK DRESS SHOES. GRADUATION PRACTICE A RRIVAL : STUDENT SHOULD REPORT NO LATER THAN 5:30 PM. STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT PRESENT FOR REHEARSAL WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GRADUATION CEREMONY. *BE ON TIME!! ALL SCHOOLS ARE REQUIRED TO STAY WITHIN THEIR ALLOTTED TIME. P ARKING : PLEASE REMEMBER THAT PARKING IS NOT FREE ($7.00) IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA. TUESDAY IS A REGULAR WORKDAY FOR DOWNTOWN EMPLOYEES AND TRAFFIC MAY BE HEAVY. PLAN ACCORDINGLY. CARPOOL IS RECOMMENDED.

GRADUATION PRACTICE A TTIRE : DRESS COMFORTABLY, DO NOT WEAR CAPS & GOWNS TO PRACTICE. GIRLS SHOULD BRING THE SHOES THEY PLAN ON WEARING ON GRADUATION DAY TO PRACTICE WALKING ACROSS THE STAGE. B EHAVIOR : GRADUATION PRACTICE AND CEREMONY ARE BOTH SCHOOL-RELATED ACTIVITIES AND STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO ADHERE TO THE WCPSS STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT OUTLINED IN THE WCPSS STUDENT HANDBOOK. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT BEHAVE APPROPRIATELY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GRADUATION CEREMONY. T ICKETS : GRADUATION TICKETS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED DURING PRACTICE. EACH GRADUATE WILL RECEIVE 10 GUEST ADMISSION TICKETS.

GRADUATION A RRIVAL : STUDENT SHOULD REPORT NO LATER THAN 6:30 PM. DOORS WILL OPEN AT 7:00 PM FOR STUDENTS TO ENTER. ALL GUESTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WAIT OUTSIDE UNTIL THE DOORS OPEN 45 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE START OF THE CEREMONY. T IME : THE ALLOTTED TIME FOR THE CEREMONY IS 1 HOUR 10 MINUTES. A TTIRE : STUDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE DRESSED IN THE APPROPRIATE GRADUATION ATTIRE.

SENIOR CAPS YOUR NAME MUST BE PRINTED ON THE INSIDE OF YOUR CAP. YOU WILL NEED YOUR CAP TO RECEIVE YOUR DIPLOMA AFTER THE CEREMONY.

GRADUATION E XTRA I TEMS : STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BRING EXTRA ITEMS TO THE GRADUATION CEREMONY. (NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES, CELL PHONES, PURSES, KEYS, CAMERAS, ETC. THESE ITEMS CANNOT BE SECURED DURING THE CEREMONY.) D IPLOMAS : STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE DIPLOMA COVERS AS THEY CROSS THE STAGE. DIPLOMAS WILL BE ISSUED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE CEREMONY IN THE LINE-UP AREA. DIPLOMAS WILL NOT BE ISSUED TO SENIORS WHO DISPLAY INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR AT ANY TIME DURING THE CEREMONY. STUDENTS WHO HAVE THEIR DIPLOMAS HELD DUE TO INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR WILL HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET WITH THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL TO RECEIVE IT.

GRADUATION G UESTS : EACH SENIOR WILL RECEIVE 10 GUEST TICKETS FOR THE GRADUATION CEREMONY. EACH TICKET ADMITS (1) PERSON INTO THE FACILITY (NO MATTER WHAT AGE). ANY WCPSS EMPLOYEE WITH A GRADUATING SENIOR MUST HAVE A TICKET. THE ONLY RESERVED SECTIONS ARE THE SEATING FOR SENIORS AND FACULTY.

GRADUATION P HOTOGRAPHY : A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER IS CONTRACTED WITH EACH SCHOOL TO PHOTOGRAPH EACH SENIOR AS THEY WALK ACROSS THE STAGE TO RECEIVE THEIR DIPLOMA COVER. PURCHASE OF THESE PHOTOS IS OPTIONAL. P ROHIBITED I TEMS : BALLOONS, CAMERA BAGS, BOOK BAGS/BACKPACKS, GLASS CONTAINERS, FOOD/DRINK, NOISE MAKERS, WRAPPED PACKAGES OF ANY KIND, OR ANY ITEMS SIMILAR TO THOSE LISTED ABOVE. FLOWERS WRAPPED IN TISSUE PAPER ARE ALLOWED INSIDE THE BUILDING. INTOXICATED INDIVIDUALS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE EXHIBIT FLOOR AREA.
