Grants What are Grants: Funds awarded to increase student knowledge, learning and awareness of the HVAC&R industry through the design and construction of senior projects or Funds awarded to a full-time student of ASHRAE related technologies. Grants are awarded once each year for use in the following academic year.

Grants Two types of Grants: – Senior Undergraduate Project Grant – Graduate Student Grant-in-Aid

Grants Senior Undergraduate Project Grant : – Funds used to fund equipment and supplies for senior project or 2 year technical school projects – Computer hardware not funded – Grant application must be submitted by the faculty member(s) responsible for the project

Grants – (Senior Undergrad cont’d) – Must be used for an ASHRAE-related topic – Grants are funded up to $5,000. – Funding from other sources is encouraged but not required.

Grants Graduate Student Grant-in-Aid Multiple awards are made each year in the amount of $10,000. Awards are administered by the student University but are meant solely for the students personal use while pursuing an HVAC&R related education

Grants (Grad Student Grant Cont’d) Applications submitted to the Manager of Research & Technical services on the student’s behalf by faculty advisor Applications must be received at ASHRAE headquarters by December 15.

Grants Application process for Senior Undergraduate Grants: Download application Select “save as” and complete the application on line Return application electronically to Katie Thomson, kthomson@ashrae.org in Microsoft Word Format

Grants (Senior Undergrad Grants cont’d) Submissions must be received by December 17 or date determined by Justin. Late or incomplete entries will NOT be accepted. Direct questions to Katie Thomson Full directions and requirements can be found at ashrae.org/student zone/scholarships and grants

Grants Application Process for Grant-in-Aid : Deadline to apply is December 15 Student shall complete pages 1-3 of application and submit to adviser. Adviser shall complete page 4 prior to submit to ASHRAE

Grants Other important information: – Applicants will receive notification by February 15 – An unaccepted project proposal may be revised and re- submitted the following year. – Funds for successful Grant applications are available after July 31

Grants – Any funded project not completed (as indicated by non- receipt of a mid-year progress or final report) will result in the removal of the school from consideration for additional grants. – A video of the grant project will be expected with the final report. Video will be a minimum of two minutes, max 5 minutes

Grants Successful Grants Application: Has a well stated purpose Description not overly technical Materials list and budgeted amount

Grants Include any equipment donations, financial support and mentor support from local industry and local ASHRAE chapter Does not exceed $5,000 Application filed on time. Late applications will not be accepted.
