Analyzing and Graphing Radical Functions Square Roots: Domain: Set inside of square root > 0, and solve for x. Range: 1. If + square root, range is y > # after radical(0 if no number) 2. If – square root, range is y < # after radical(0 if no number) Graphing: 1.Plot parent points – (0, 0), (1, 1), (4, 2) and (9, 3). 2.List all transformations applied to the square root(shifts, reflections, etc.) 3. Apply transformations listed to each parent point, then connect resulting set of points. Cube roots: Domain and Range = All Real Numbers. Graphing: 1.Plot parent points – (-8, -2), (-1, -1), (0, 0), (1, 1), and (8, 2). 2.List all transformations applied to cube root(shifts, reflections, etc.) 3.Apply all transformations listed to each parent point, then connect resulting set of points.
