+ Blended Learning Incorporates a combination of face-to-face instruction and online learning. Puts more of the responsibility for learning on the student. Has been used in Westside for years, we just haven’t called it that. Gives the the learner voice and choice in how they learn, when they learn, and the pace at which they learn. 3

+ Qualification process Based on the philosophy of multiple measures, Westside has combined the most predictive measures into a comprehensive process: SAT 10 of 95 th Percentile and above qualifies the student to take the Orleans Hanna. Orleans Hanna local percentile of 61 qualifies the student to take a test aligned to Westside’s standards. A score of 40 correct or better on the local CRT gains the student entrance into 6 th grade pre- algebra. 4

+ Algebra is the foundation for ALL high school mathematics courses. o High school courses MUST be passed with a B or higher to be eligible for the next honors course. o Looking into the future - college requirements. What does your child need to have for college math requirements? o Does your child really need to take Calculus as a junior in high school? o Is your child likely to pursue a mathematics related field?
