2 OBJECTIVES: To identify solutions of inequalities. To graph and write inequalities

3 A Solution of an Inequality… Is any number that makes the inequality TRUE. –Example: x<5 means that all number less than 5 are solutions of this inequality because all of those numbers make the inequality true.

4 Example 1 Is each number a solution of x > - 4.1?  -5  -4.1  8  0

5 Example 2 Is each number a solution of the given inequality?  2y + 1 < - 3  0  -2  1

6 Graph Using a Number Line a>4 b<- 2 c>0 d<5

7 Write an Inequality from a Graph:
