1 Proposed Service Changes for March 20, 2016 The mission of the RTA is to provide safe and sustainable mobility services to the citizens of New Orleans. More specifically, the RTA is dedicated to building and operating a safe, efficient, and effective transportation system that provides mobility, improves the quality of life, and stimulates economic development. Core principles of the RTA include dedication to rigorous safety practices, top- quality customer service, efficient use of resources, and ensuring that the service is accessible for the disabled community and senior citizens.

2 2 Why are we proposing service changes? In 2014 and 2015, the RTA Board of Commissioners heard from riders, employers and the public about service improvements that were needed. Greater service frequency/more buses, particularly on weekends. Later service after midnight and earlier morning service. Better service reliability and dependability. More transit access to regional job centers.

3 3 Service Change Statistics In 2016, these proposed service changes represent: 51,000 total hours 13% increase in total bus services 28% increase in weekend bus service Largest proposed service increase since 2004 Improves service on 23 transit lines 21 bus lines, 1 streetcar line (Cemeteries) and 1 new express bus line to New Orleans Airport

12 12 Community Outreach & Public Comment Process RTA/Transdev staff attended 9 open houses including 5 at major bus and streetcar stops around the City 20,000 Rider Alerts distributed on buses and streetcar and at open houses Website went live for public review on January 5 Public Hearing held on January 20 and attended by 50 people RTA/Transdev staff are analyzing comments to determine how to improve current service proposal

13 13 Digital Media & Communications RTA/Transdev’s goal was to communicate information about proposed service changes, notification of open house dates and January 20 public hearing to riders via media outlets, online, and digital media. Created dedicated Web page on Norta.com (January 5) Social media campaign launched January 5 PSAs sent to all media for media coverage Media Coverage Garnered: Television – 64 stories running from Jan 9-21. Radio – coverage across various metro radio stations from Jan 9-21. Online – 9-day digital run (Nola.com) Print – 6 articles (Advocate, AP, NOPG etc.)
