4. WHAT IS A CONJUNCTION? What is the job of a conjunction?

5. WHAT IS A CONJUNCTION? A conjunction joins two sentences together; it turns two sentences into one. The boy was cold. He forgot to wear his coat. The boy was cold he forgot to wear his coat.

6. WHICH WORDS ARE CONJUNCTIONS? These words can change two sentences into one!

7. WHY DO WE USE CONJUNCTIONS? Look at and read the two sentences on your table. One contains a conjunction and the other does not. Underline the conjunction Discuss the sentences with your parent; 1. How are they different? 2. What information do they give us? 3. Which sentence is better and why?

8. AN EXAMPLE Here I have two sentences: The dog was tired. He wanted to play. Which conjunction could I use to turn my two sentences into one?
