Facebook Has come a long way for businesses Hours of operation Able to make appointments from Facebook Check-in specials Call directly from page with a click of a button from your smart phone More important than your website People don’t hang out on websites anymore Need to have one, and must look updated, but not be as much bang for your buck as it used to be

Twitter Allows more interaction with other like minded professionals through re-tweeting Re-tweet messages from the American Optometric Association and any other organizations the office is part of Short & sweet updates about your office Link to your Facebook page so that posts automatically cross over Follow health, parent, local organizations

Four Square All about WHERE you are. Patients can ‘check- in’ at your office letting the world know you are where they receive care. The Mayor of a place is the person who has checked in there the most. Can have a contest to become the Mayor or overthrow the Mayor. Most people have linked to Facebook so check-ins show up there as well. Offer a check-in special

Pinterest A virtual pinboard Allows you to organize your likes and interests, posting photos, videos, and other items to your pinboard Can surf other people’s pinboards to get ideas for recipes, crafts, decorating, etc. Use for office ideas See what other offices are doing Make boards: eyeglasses, sunwear, cool optical stuff, eyes, words of wisdom, staff recipes

Linked In World’s largest professional network Used to post resumes, make professional connections, and hire Can make a business page but must have emails linked to your domain (exp. Must be doctor@familyeyecare.com, can not be doctor@yahoo.com) doctor@familyeyecare.com doctor@yahoo.com Have a complete business profile, but don’t spend a lot of time.

Google Recently helped out small business by giving priority to local searches. Most important thing is to fill in the information on your local page. Delete duplicates. Google doesn’t like that and will move you down the list. Complete your GooglePlus profile with pictures, videos, and office information.

Yelp! Reviews! Reviews! Reviews! A few good reviews can go a long way in improving your search result listing How are your patients grading you now?? Need a system in place Respond to any negative reviews 65% of people on Yelp are college grade or higher 64% of people on Yelp make over $100K per year Programs available to help DemandForce, Websystems3, etc.

Do not leave your profile half full Fill in all information Load tons of pictures Do not make a profile and then ignore it for months Concentrate on Facebook & link the other accounts to that Do not start an account if you won’t be able to do it right

Do not run fruitless campaigns If no one is responding to your campaign, change it Do not ignore how much staff time is being used If spending a lot of staff time and not getting a lot of new ‘likes’ then need to make a change
