The Artist Wayne Thiebaud – pronounced Te – Bo American Born in Arizona 1920 - Grew up in Southern California during Great Depression Career before art Worked in restaurants & cafes Cartoonist in the Army and for Walt Disney Taught art for many years Began art as a career at age 40

Thiebaud spoke at Harvard University School of Design in 1990 where he responded to one of the student's questions, "What do you think defines an artist?“ and Mr. Thiebaud responded "An artist creates his own world.”
