3 Bahrain, officially the Kingdom of Bahrain, is an archipelago of 36 islands located in the Arabian Gulf (Southwest Asia/Middle East,Asia). The country was once named Dilmun by ancient Sumerians, considered an island paradise. Saudi Arabia lies to the west \ east and is connected to Bahrain by the King Fahd Causeway and Qatar is to the south across the Arabian Gulf. 4 Most of Bahrain’s population live on the main island Manama the capital of Bahrain,which is linked by a causeway and a bridge to the island of Muharraq, home to Bahrain International Airport there is also Hawar which is a very beautiful island where people go for tourism.

6 The Bahraini flag the left side that has a zigzag made of five white triangles. The triangles point to the right side of the flag. The triangles on the white serrated stripe represent the five consists of a red base with a white vertical stripe on pillars of Islam.

10 Bahrain has two seasons: a hot summer and mild winter. The summer starts from April to October. The temperature can reach to 40 C and can reach to 48 C during June and July. Winter starts from November to March, when the temperature is between 10 C and 20 C prevailing winds from the southeast, known as the shammal, bring damp air over the islands. Average rainfall is low, but most of it falls in winter.

11 Bahrain ' s official currency is the Bahraini Dinar, Notes appear in order of BHD 20, 10, 5, and 1, and 500 fils. Coins are in denominations of 100, 50, 25 and 10 fils. Bahraini Dinar ( BHD ) = 1,000 fils.

In a region experiencing an oil boom, Bahrain has the fastest growing economy in the Arab world, In the recent past, the government has also begun a drive to attract tourists to the islands. 20 The typical Bahraini woman dresses conservatively, usually the daffah (abaya) a long loose-fitting black gown, is worn. However, there is no formal dress code in Bahrain, and foreigners as well as local women are seen wearing modern outfits as well.

24 Bahraini men usually wear the Thobe and the traditional headdress which includes the kahfeya, Ghutra and Agal. ♠ The Thobe, is a loose, long-sleeved, ankle-length garment. Summer Thobes are white and made of cotton and winter Thobes can be darker and made of wool. ♠ The Ghutra is a square scarf, made of cotton, and is folded in a triangle and worn over the Kehffiyeh. In Bahrain, it is usually red and white or all white. There is no significance placed on which kind the man wears. ♠ The Kahfeya is a white knitted skull cap worn under the Ghutra. ♠ The Agal is a thick, double, black cord that is worn on the top of the Ghutra to hold it in place.

26 Food The most important meal in the day is lunch so its important for the family to gather around the table and chat while eating moreover we usually prepare the main dish is rice with chicken, meat or fish, there are many dishes such as majboos and baryani and others. Curries and salads also contains with the main dish.

27 Coffee called Gahwa locally, is considered a part of the traditional welcome in Bahrain. It is usually poured into a coffee-pot, which is called dalla. It is served in a small cup made specially for coffee called finjan.

28 Football (soccer) is the most popular modern sport, while traditional pastimes such as falconry, horse riding, and gazal and hare hunting are still practiced by wealthier Bahrainis. Horse and camel racing are popular public entertainments.

29 2004 was the first ever Bahrain F1 race and a huge success, enjoyed by countless millions of people watching on TV and most Important the race was also voted a big success within the world of Formula One with everyone experiencing the friendliness and hospitality of the Bahraini people
