2  Portfolios may take many different forms and may be used for many different purposes. They may be used to diagnose, document, or celebrate learning.  Formats vary depending on functional purpose.

3  Contains work in progress. It serves as a holding tank for work that may be selected later for a more permanent display portfolio.  A working portfolio is an intentional collection of work guided by learning objectives.  Given its use in diagnosis, the primary audience for a working portfolio is you, with guidance from the teacher. By working on the portfolio and reflecting on the quality of work contained there, you the artist becomes more reflective and self-directed.  Your art journal is a type of working portfolio. Contains rough draft and practice work, notes, and critique information.

4  The purpose of a display portfolio is to demonstrate the highest level of achievement attained by the student. Collecting items for this portfolio is a student's way of saying “Here's who I am. Here is what I can do.”  It’s maintained from year to year, with new pieces added each year, documenting growth over time.  Audience: Student, peers, parents, current and future instructors, colleges.  Contains both class projects and outside work.

12  Pair up with a partner  Work together to display and photograph each piece completed to date  These photos will be stored in class folder on computers in the room by Ms. Keller

13  collect your images onto flash drive or CD- R. Be sure and title each piece by date and project name.  Format the work in chronological order in a power point format.  1 piece of work per slide. Must include, title, date, medium, objective or artist statement.  You may add additional information in the notes section of each slide if you wish.

14  You may add work completed outside of class. Be sure to save by date and name of work.  These will be added at the end of the power point presentation, or you can also save them as two separate power point presentations.

15  Your format must be neat and contain all required information.  Text must be legible. (Don’t use small black text on a highly textured background.  Crop photos so they only contain the artwork. Misc. background is distracting and looks messy. Remember, this is a finished body of work.
