2 North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Development of Board of Visitors Priorities for 2012-13 As an outgrowth of the Board of Visitors’ retreat in August 2012, it was agreed that annually, the Board of Trustees Chairperson and the Chancellor would meet with the Chairperson of the Board of Visitors in the July/August timeframe to finalize a set of priorities for the year. The current priorities have been reviewed and endorsed by all parties. 2

3 North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University BOV Priorities for 2012-13 PriorityObjective 1.Assist with the development of a new marketing and branding campaign strategy for the university during the 2012-13 academic year. a.A process has begun for the selection of a consultancy group to work with a small campus committee to develop the new marketing and branding campaign. The BOV is asked to identify expertise from among its members to work closely with the campus committee in guiding this process for the university. 3

4 North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University BOV Priorities for 2012-13 PriorityObjective 2.Assist with the development of a feasibility assessment for a planned capital campaign for the university during the 2012-13 academic year. a.A process has begun for the selection of a consultancy group to work with a small campus committee to develop the feasibility assessment for a capital campaign for the university to raise critical funds to help realize A&T Preeminence 2020. The BOV is asked to identify expertise from among its members to work closely with the campus committee in guiding this process for the university. 4

5 North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University BOV Priorities for 2012-13 PriorityObjective 3.Assist the university in reviewing and revising its leadership develop programs for undergraduate and graduate students during the 2012-13 academic year. a.There are numerous leadership development programs throughout the university in the Divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs focused on various aspects of student leadership development. The BOV is asked to identify expertise from among its members to work closely with a small committee of representatives from academic and student affairs to review and provide recommendations for creating a more competitive leadership development program that impacts a larger population of our students. 5

6 North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University BOV Priorities for 2012-13 PriorityObjective 4.Assist the university in reviewing and revising strategies for enhancing job opportunities/placement for graduating seniors and graduate students, with a particular emphasis on increasing opportunities for academic areas on our campus where opportunities have not been as abundant. The BOV is asked to identify expertise from among its members to work closely with a small committee of representatives from academic and student affairs to review and provide recommendations for creating a more competitive leadership development program that impacts a larger population of our students. 6

7 North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University BOV Priorities for 2012-13 PriorityObjective 4.… enhancing job opportunities/placement for graduating seniors and graduate students, … a.The university has created a successful model for connecting our best academically prepared graduates in select disciplines with Fortune 500 corporations, state and federal agencies and other organizations. This model, facilitated by the Office of Career Services, has worked for years. A major element of this model is the Annual Career Fair which occurs in September of each year. The BOV is asked to identify expertise from among its members to work closely with a small committee of representatives from academic and student affairs to review and provide recommendations for creating a more competitive leadership development program that impacts a larger population of our students. 7

8 North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University BOV Priorities for 2012-13 PriorityObjective 5.Assist the university by promoting an exchange of best practices to advance the university’s information technology agenda: a.By providing input on the university’s technology strategic plans and direction b.By sharing insight on trends and best practices to enhance IT effectiveness, efficiency, and customer service c.By enhancing the exposure, growth and development of university IT professionals, i.e. coaching/mentoring opportunities. The BOV is asked to identify members who have a proven track record of success in IT management to assist with reviewing and providing advice on the university’s strategic information technology plans. 8
