The Natural Beauties of Romania Scoala Gimnaziala nr.1 Saveni Romania 2

As we want to charm you with the beauties of our country, I suggest we go on a wonderful imaginary trip in our country. Once upon a time there was a country named Romania, beautiful and rich, with magnificent mountains, pure rivers, and crystal clear lakes.

Red Lake is in Harghita County. Its name comes from a legend, according to which, a shepherd and his sheep were killed by a landslide. The colour of the lake’s water comes from their blood.

Bicaz Canyon, made by the River Bicaz, is a passageway between Moldova and Transylvania.

The Pietrei Craiului Carnation can be seen only in the Piatra Craiului Mountains.

The Heather Cock is rarely seen in the Carpathians.

Balea Waterfall is located in the Fagaras Mountains. In 2006, the first ice hotel in Eastern Europe was built near Balea Lake.

The Waterfall of Horses or Cascada Cailor, in the Rodna Mountains, is a very picturesque sight. It seems like somebody had drawn it with a magic pencil.

The Chamois is one of the most beautiful animals that lives in our mountains.

The mud volcanoes create a strange lunar landscape. The Berca Mud Volcanoes, in Buzau County, have the shape of small volcanoes.

The Danube also gives a great view at Iron Gates I, where it enters Romania. This area, near Drobeta Turnu-Severin town, has several historical monuments dating from the Roman Empire times.

Petera Muierilor (Romanian for "The Woman's Cave") is a cave system in Gorj County. Its name comes from the women that found shelter here, while their men were at war.

The Cozia National Park is in Valcea County. Apart from the wonderful sights, this area offers many reasons for visiting it. Some of them are: the ancient Roman sites, the monasteries, the waterfalls and gorges, and many more.

Scarisoara Cave is one of the biggest ice caves in the Apuseni Mountains of Romania. The ice cave was formed 3500 years ago. Tourists can visit the entrance shaft, The Big Hall and The Church.

Pestera Ursilor or Bears Cave is located in Bihor County. The visiting of the Bears Cave includes the Bears Gallery, Emil Racovita Gallery, and the Candles Gallery.

The Red Cliff is located in Alba County. The relief is called badlands, and it is specific in the USA. The strange columns and pyramids form an imposing landscape.

The Garden of Dragons or Gradina Zmeilor, is located in Salaj County. It is made of several rock formations with strange shapes.

The Sphinx in Bucegi Mountains is a natural rock formation. Its correspondent is the Great Sphinx in Egypt. Nearby, Babele or The Old Women have the shape of mushrooms.
