CALORIE CONSUMPTION Between mid-1960’s and mid-1990’s, global per capita daily calorie consumption increased by about 10% US in 1990 had the highest calorie consumption of 3,671 per capita per day. Caloric consumption in the poorest countries of the world ranged between 1,700-2,600 Calorie consumption below 1,700 cause mal-nourishment On global basis, the population estimated to be malnourished decreased from 900 million to 800 million An increase in the global population from 6 billion to 10 billion means that we will need to increase global food supplies by a factor of 1.67 just to maintain current dietary levels.
