To explain and seek views on proposals to develop a new strategy for improving educational standards at Woodslee Primary School (WPS). The Parent/Carer Consultation will end on Monday 16 th May 2016 @ 4.00pm.

To improve pupil progress and attainment; To become judged as a ‘Good School’ following the next Ofsted inspection visit; To work with the IEB to plan and develop a new Governance Structure for the School as the IEB will be stepping down; To manage the current Headteacher vacancy; To manage a challenging financial situation; To increase pupil numbers; To improve the school learning environment.

Appointed IEB to provide stability and leadership; Appointed TPS to support the improvement in teaching and learning; Appointed Acting Headteacher (Caroline Williams); Appointed WPS Parent and Community Governors.

To establish a new mutual partnership agreement between WPS and TPS under a Multi Academy Trust (MAT); WPS to convert to a new sponsored academy school; TPS to become the sponsor school; New partnership will be unique and pioneering in Wirral; New partnership will develop to provide stability, excellence and high standards of education; MAT will increase in school numbers over time (maximum 5 schools).

Current name; Unique ethos and identity; Governing Body; Colour of uniform; School site; LA term dates; Staff transferred on the same terms and conditions of employment.

Shared expertise in order to raise educational standards; Establish a unique curriculum model that provides opportunities to develop the whole child; Improve school leadership and management; Shared specialist expertise in areas such as human resources, finance and asset management; Develop ‘economies of scale’ and provide improved best ‘value for money’.

Direct government funding providing greater flexibility to target resources to meet specific requirements; Improved access to capital funding via DfE; Establish a strong and experienced governance structure;

Form a partnership relationship with a business orientated academy school; Unlikely to be a Wirral based partnership and risks losing the unique WPS attributes described above.

Located in Oxton; Kate Lee – Headteacher; Ted Behan – Chair of Governing Body; Only stand-alone primary school academy in Wirral (October 2014); Educate children from the ages 2 – 11 years; Includes Pre-school and Hearing Support Base facilities; Judged as ‘Good with outstanding features’ at last Ofsted inspection visit (December 2010).

Townfield Extended Day Care Scheme (TEDS) judged as ‘Outstanding’ at the last Ofsted inspection visit (February 2013); Constantly achieves good to high levels of progress and achievement in KS1 and KS2; Demand for admission in Foundation 2 constantly oversubscribed – approximately 150 requests for 60 places for September 2016; Extensive enrichment programme – all pupils from years 2 – 6 included in overnight educational visits. International trips to Russia and China.
