Excretory System
2
The digestive system gets rid of undigested material through the large intestine. The respiratory system and the circulatory system work together to rid the body of waste gases. These systems work together as part of the excretory system If waste are not removed from the body, toxic substances build up and damage organs.
3
Rids the blood of wastes produced by the cells. Controls the volume of blood by removing excess water that the body cells produce during respiration. Is part of the excretory system.
4
To stay healthy, the fluid levels in the body have to be balanced. The hypothalamus, (in the brain) keeps track of the amount of water in the blood. Produces a hormone that tells the kidney to return less water to the blood. It also tells the kidneys to increase the amount of urine, that is excreted.
5
Two kidneys- filter blood that contains wastes collected from cells. Ureters- narrow tubes that lead from each kidney to the bladder
6
Bladder- a muscular organ that holds urine until it leaves the body Urethra- a narrow tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body
7
Liver- also filters blood to remove wastes. The body loses large amounts of liquid wastes through exhaling and perspiring. Excess amino acids are changed into a chemical called urea that passes to the urine. Hemoglobin from broken-down red blood cells becomes part of bile, which is digestive fluid from the liver.
8
People can live with one kidney. If both were to fail, a person will need to have their blood filtered by a machine. The Dialysis machine removes wastes from the blood, just like the kidneys.
9
Kidney stone: small, calcium deposits present in the kidney form by accumulation of mineral from our diet. These pellets could be varied in size and may descend to urinary tract. Bladder Cancer: there is an uncontrolled cell division in the bladder. Urinary tract infection (UTI): is the infection of the ureters, bladder, and urethra. Gout: caused by excess uric acid stored up in the blood. It affect join, lead to pain, redness, and inflammation.
10
A urologist is a physician who has specialized knowledge and skill regarding problems of the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive organs. Dialysis technicians, also known as hemodialysis or nephrology technicians, maintain and operate the equipment used for dialysis, a process that cleanses the blood of metabolic waste products.
