CHARLES JOHN HUFFAM DICKENS

Dickens was a famous English novelist, one of the best known in the literature, and the principal of the Victorian era. He was master of the narrative genre, which printed a certain dose of humor and irony, while practicing a sharp social criticism. In his work there are the descriptions of people and places, both real and imagined. He sometimes used the pseudonym Boz. Later critics such as George Gissing and G. K. Chesterton, stood and cheered his mastery of the English language as unique, and unforgettable characters, and much of its deep social conscience. However, it also received criticism of his best readers, George Henry Lewes, Henry James and Virginia Woolf among them-which blamed certain defects to his works, as effusive sentimentality, unrealistic and grotesque characters events. His novels and short stories enjoyed great popularity in the writer's life, and still are published continuously. Dickens wrote serialized novels, the usual format in fiction at the time, for the simple reason that not everyone had the financial resources to buy a book, and each new release of their stories was awaited with great enthusiasm for their readers, national and international. Dickens was and is still revered as a literary idol writers around the world.
