Background: 1909-1989 Born in Cantalonia, Spain Was sent to drawing school at the Colegio de Hermanos Maristas Later enrolled in Academia de San Fernando in Madrid

Background: During his studies in Madrid, Dali was influenced by many different art styles such as Cubism, Impressionism, and Futurism. Cubist Self Portrait,1926

Style/Type of Work Created Most famous for his work in the style of Surrealism. Surrealist works feature the element of surprise and interesting compositions. One of the most famous Surrealist artists. He was best known for his ability to translate dreams into artwork. He described his work as ' hand-painted dream photographs '. Created oil paintings of small collages of his dream images.

Interesting Facts He had an intense fear of Grasshoppers. He didn't know how to count money. When he was in public he would jump up and down to get attention. He was afraid to expose his feet.
