3 Background: During his studies in Madrid, Dali was influenced by many different art styles such as Cubism, Impressionism, and Futurism. Cubist Self Portrait,1926

4 Style/Type of Work Created Most famous for his work in the style of Surrealism. Surrealist works feature the element of surprise and interesting compositions. One of the most famous Surrealist artists. He was best known for his ability to translate dreams into artwork. He described his work as ' hand-painted dream photographs '. Created oil paintings of small collages of his dream images.
