CALORIES AND BMR BMR tells you how many calories you burn doing absolutely nothing
2
Definition: BMR is a measure of the rate at which a person's body "burns" energy, in the form of calories, while at rest. This is the energy (calories) required to do involuntary work of the body Such as: breathing, blood flow, heart beat *The number of calories you'd burn if you stayed in bed all day.*
3
The BMR can play a role in someone's tendency to gain weight. For example: a person with a low BMR (who therefore burns fewer calories while at rest or sleeping) will tend to gain more pounds of body fat over time, compared with a similar-sized person with an average BMR who eats the same amount of food and gets the same amount of exercise. Calories and BMR Worksheet Finding your BMR Adding Activity level to the equation to find out approximately how many calories you should be taking in throughout the day.
5
1.Divide your weight by 2.2 (this will equal your weight in kilograms) (Weight) 100 ÷ 2.2=45.5 Kg. 2.If you are a female, multiply your weight in kilograms by.9 3. Multiply your answer in #2 by 24 (This is your BMR) 45.5 Kg X.9 = 41 41 X 24 = 981 (This is your BMR) 4. Figure your amount of activity as a percentage 0% being the least active, 100% by the most active 65%=.6
6
5. Multiply your BMR by your percent of activity 6. Add your BMR to your answer in # 5 7. Multiply your answer in # 6 by.10 8. Add your answer in #7 to your answer in #6 (this is what your caloric intake should be) 981 X.6 = 589.1 (answer # 3) 981 + 589.1 = 1570.1 (answer # 4) (answer # 5) 1570.1 X.10 = 157.0 (answer # 6) 1570.1 + 157.0 = 1727.1 (answer # 6) (answer # 7) You should be taking in about this many calories a day
