9. Faculty (CME, Mentoring) Continuing Medical Education: our CME program consists of our departmental grand rounds programs, courses, seminars and online offerings. Faculty Development: Research, Clinical Advising and Mentoring, either 1 to 1 or in a advising/mentoring committee is a form of teaching that is valued for promotion

Teaching Opportunities In addition to teaching opportunities in the SOM, other opportunities exist on campus in multidisciplinary education programs (SON, SOD, SOP, SSW, SOL) and at UMCP & UMBC –also valued for promotion Faculty are encouraged to participate in teaching as soon as possible – Junior research faculty should try to delay major teaching responsibilities while establishing their research – Be proactive to find opportunities – Seek feedback regularly
