Discuss safety successes. Present prioritized safety issues and suggestions. Constructively discuss issues and suggestions. Obtain comments and feedback from owner’s team, but maintain independence. Step 6 Step 6 4-89
5
SUGGESTIONS: Short Term: Warning Sign. Medium Term: Maintain existing gravel shoulder. Long Term: Pave the shoulder. Step 6 Step 6 4-90 Expected FrequencyExpected SeverityRisk Rating D OccasionalMediumModerate Observation A substantial drop-off of about 5 inches between the pavement and the shoulder.

Step 6 Step 6 4-91 Expected FrequencyExpected SeverityRisk Rating D RareHighModerate Observation A culvert wall is located immediately adjacent to the edge of the travel lane. Pedestrians must walk in the roadway. SUGGESTIONS: Short Term: Warning Sign. Medium Term: Provide sentry lighting. Long-term: Establish and maintain off-road paths for pedestrians.
7
Summarize the project. Identify team. Identify documents used or reviewed. Summarize scope, opportunities, constraints. Document meetings and site visits. Document the prioritized safety issues and suggestions. Report samples available. Step 6 Step 6 4-92

Short-Term Suggestion: Add advance intersection warning signs on both US 60 approaches. Traffic Division will revise the plans to add the signs. Action taken Step 7 Step 7 4-95
11
Reason for not taking action Long-Term Suggestion: Add an acceleration lane in the westbound direction for right- turning movement. This is not feasible for the following reasons: Any changes to the top of cut/toe of slope would affect the utility relocation which is currently under way. Also, the acceleration lane may interfere with driveway operations at Sta. 551+20. Step 7 Step 7 4-96
12
Step 7 Step 7 Issue: Skewed intersection combined with grade creates sight distance challenges and turning-movement crash risks. SuggestionsOwner’s Responses Short Term: Add Warning Signs and Improve Pavement Markings Accepted Medium Term: Cut back the slope Accepted and will be considered for implementation next years. Long Term: Re-align the intersection to improve the skew. Rejected at this time because of budget limitations and conflict with long-term area road plans. 4-97
13
Response A “We will not realign the intersection at Jefferson Road. We do not feel that it is needed.” Step 7 Step 7 4-98
14
Response B “While we agree with the need to realign the skewed intersection, the realignment cannot be achieved within the existing right-of-way. The acquisition of the required property may be considered in future budgets.” Step 7 Step 7 4-99
