R esource E fficient cities implementing AD vanced smart cit Y solutions Innovative actions! Retrofit of dwellings and administrative buildings District heating and cooling energy supply Electricity distribution grid
5
Innovative actions! Sustainable community development Retrofitting Smart kitchen solutions Power Hub Low-cost large-scale PV-Thermal “PVT” EV battery applications Resource efficiency and water usage Waste-heat recovery Renewable district heating generation Low-temperature district heating solutions Smart metering in district heating
6
Budget Total eligible cost: 33 300 kEUR Total EU contribution:19 200 kEUR

Smart buildings in Växjö Thanks for listening www.vaxjo.se/sustainable
8
Innovative actions in Växjö 31 500 m 2 dwellings (376 pcs), built 1973, 141-171 kWh/m 2,a Retrofit Energy target: 75 kWh/m 2 /a (national building code 90 kWh/m 2,a, heating, domestic hot water and building electricity for new buildings) New energy efficient windows New mechanical ventilation with high-efficient heat recovery Extra isolation of attic joists Improved and monitored building air tightness Heat recovery from waste water ? Two extra stories on top of existing buildings (solid wood frame and almost passive house standard) Smart kitchen solutions (minimise use of electricity, water and wrappings) Info-campaignes for tenants to affect ”energy”-behaviour and to minimise waste from food and wrappings (organic waste is used for central biogas plant)
9
Innovative actions in Växjö Electricity distribution grid Local production with building integrated photovoltaic installations New efficient network components? (quality of electricity etc) ICT solutions for optimal use of renewable energy production (possible differentiated price?) Electrical vehicles and electrical bikes will be available for rent. Used as electrical storage to better match supply with demand Charge station for electrical vehicles and bikes
10
Innovative actions in Växjö District heating and cooling energy supply Energy produced from waste heat coming from central CHP-process based on bioenergy, a crematorium, local industries Local district heating system temperatures adjusted to lowest possible level (NODA) in order to provide best possible prerequisits for production of electricity in central CHP plant and minimisation of heat losses. Local production of heat/cooling/electrical energy from new innovative device (Entrance-ORC). Heat driven appliances (dishwasher, wash mashine) Smart Meters (use of electricity, heat, hot and cold water and info)
11
Actions, Aarhus Refurbishment of 413 appartments in Social Housing Refurbishment of 2 068 m 2 administrative building Energy efficiency tasks in 60 private one-family houses Low Temperature District Heating and Local Micro Heat Pumps Aarhus University Hospital, waste cooling and heating Mobility and transportation in Skejby Industrial area
