Independent Practice Evaluate/Assess *Today we will work in small groups to determine the theme of the poem while identifying figurative language used in poetry to effect meaning. o Review grammar sentences and make corrections. o What is imagery? Define metaphor? Parallelism? o Read poem. o In small groups, we will analyze the language, identifying imagery, metaphors, and parallelism; identify point of view and analyze how an author’s choices contribute to its overall meaning as well as its aesthetic impact, analyze figurative and connotative meanings and the impact of author’s word choices. o Fulfill your role in small group while analyzing poem. o Can you identify two examples of figurative language and their effects? o Homework: Review notes and warm ups. o Grammar Quiz Friday..
