John’s Purpose: To Create Belief in Jesus as the Son of God “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:31 “Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. John’s Gospel Relentlessly Drives the Reader Towards His Purpose “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:31 The SIGNS, the DISCOURSES, the WITNESSES and the “I Am” STATEMENTS all lead the reader to make a decision to receive or reject Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God.
