3 What is Computer Support Services (CSS)? CSS is divided into Computer Support Desk (previously named Helpdesk) and Enterprise Client Management (previously Computing Labs and Desktop Management). 3

4 What services does CSS provide?  UTPA Account activation (necessary for email, Blackboard (WebCT), Computer Labs, and Library Databases)  Password support (reset, change, and synchronization)  Extended hours for the Call Center until 9pm Mondays thru Thursdays and on Fridays until 7pm during Fall/Spring/Summer semesters  Wireless Network configuration (setup) 4

5 What services does CSS provide?  Software/Hardware consulting for office equipment  Spyware/Virus Support for office equipment  Assistance with Software installation (UTPA site licensed software such as Microsoft Office and McAfee Antivirus)  24 hour labs in the Academic Services Building  Our semester hours are from Sunday 12pm to Friday at 7pm, with Saturdays open from 8am to 6pm. 5

8 What is Video Services? Video Services provides technical support of all technology equipped classrooms. 8

9 What services does Video Services provide?  Every classroom on campus is equipped with an identical media presentation system.  Equipment includes Instructor’s desk that is adjustable in height, digital document camera, DVD/VHS player, networked computer and an input port for a laptop. 9

11 What services does Video Services provide?  Professional level video production services.  Scripting, shooting, editing and duplicating.  We produced the latest UTPA commercials airing right now.  We also provide videoconferencing services.  We use two-way videoconferencing for credit-bearing classes and for collaborative face-to-face meetings. 11

16 What is Network Services? The Network Services Department is responsible for providing the communications infrastructure to support the educational, research, and business goals of the University. 16

17 What services does Network Services provide?  Network design, testing, build-out, and maintenance (wired and wireless)  Fiber and copper cabling across campus (both network and telephone)  Campus construction support for telecommunications infrastructure  Commodity Internet and Internet2 connectivity 17
