5 S 1.5 Inquiry: Developing a Data Mind- Set Data Teams are driven by their most burning questions about student learning. Often, it is the question that drives the search for information. It is through this treasure hunt that Data Teams determine their focus. 6 S 1.6 Responses following first meeting in November: A Data Coach’s Guide to Improving Learning for All Students: Unleashing the Power of Collaborative Inquiry © 2007 by Corwin Press. How can we target and improve the instruction of our topics with lower student results? What can we do to help students be more accountable for their success? Based on the item analysis, how can we improve our results on specific Intellectual Operations? How can we use this data to improve our students’ success/learning?

7 S 1.7 Comments/suggestions More detailed breakdown of exam results Get more information about sharing data at the lower levels Solutions to student motivation (or lack thereof) Think about strategies to use in a data team meeting (step-by-step ideas) Look at the breakdown of the exam questions to guide our teaching even more. Convey the importance of finding time to meet to the principals How can using data help us to get positive results? Would you be ready to compare data to find the solutions to help our students? Do you see the advantage of this process of collaboration? How can we make results from the MEESR exams relevant to the other teachers in the department who do not teach the course? Educators collectively at the district and school levels become more skilled and focused at assessing, disaggregating and using student achievement as a tool for ongoing improvement” (Fullan, 2005, p.71) A Data Coach’s Guide to Improving Learning for All Students: Unleashing the Power of Collaborative Inquiry © 2007 by Corwin Press.
