14 PE & Sport Premium Update Confirmed for next two academic years. £8,000 per year plus £5 per pupil (Jan School Census) Payment Schedule – 2 instalments: 31 October 2014 & 30 April 2015

15 Eligible Spend Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE Supporting and engaging the least active children through new or additional Change4Life sport clubs Paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and Sport Providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE and sport Running sport competitions, or increasing children’s participation in the School Games Buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE and Sport Providing places for children on after school sport clubs and holiday clubs Pooling the additional funding with that of other local schools.

16 Summary of Spend 13/14 91% of schools reported an increase in the quality of PE Teaching 86% used the funding to upskill and train existing staff Use of external sports coaches increased from 37% to 82% in schools Use of specialist PE teachers has increased from 22% to 54% in schools 64% of schools reported making changes to who delivered their extra curricular PE & Sport. 67% of schools reported offering a wide range of sports during curricular time whilst 77% reported doing so during extra-curricular time

17 Ofsted Measurements The impact of the funding will be considered in terms of: Achievement in weekly PE lessons Increased participation in competitive school sport Personal health and well-being Improved attitudes and behaviour towards learning

18 Publishing Plans One of the conditions of the funding is that schools must publish information on their website about their PE & Sport Premium spend. This should include: The amount of grant received How it has or will be spent What Impact the school has seen on its pupils’ participation and attainment.

20 Primary School Sport Facilities Fund £18 million National Lottery funding to improve Primary School Sports Facilities Fund will help provide outdoor multi-sport areas for curriculum & out of school hours Priority will be given to schools with little or no outside space which can be used for PE £30,000 average investment 5 Wandsworth Schools were successful in receving £30,000 Anticipating another round of funding in 14/15 primaryschoolfacilities@sportengland.org for more details

23 PE and school sport HEALTH AND EDUCATION VISION “ A measurable and sustained improvement in school PE and sport, underpinned by high- quality teaching that increases participation levels in physical activity, and leads to healthier pupils who are more engaged across the whole curriculum” This will be our legacy to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

24 PE and school sport OBJECTIVES Professional Development of Teachers To improve the quality of existing PE teaching through continuing professional development in PE for generalists, so that all primary pupils improve their health, skills and physical literacy, & have broader exposure to a range of sports. Competition To increase participation levels in competitive sport and healthy activity of pupils, and maintain these into adolescence
