Why? Do you have … a program with low retention or low completion rates? a program with a large waiting list? a new program?

Why? A curriculum profile is conducted to: identify the WorkKeys skills identify skill levels needed for entry into a program, and, identify skill levels needed to successfully complete the program.

Why? A Curriculum Profile will…. Validate content Encourage skill development Set realistic levels of expectation Benefit students by developing goals Work as a co-requisite for entry into career majors

WorkKeys curriculum profiles systematically develop results in two phases: A curriculum review to consider the learning objectives critical to the completion of the training program, and, A skill analysis that is used to identify the WorkKeys skills and skill levels required upon entry into, and exit from, the program.

Profile Process An ACT authorized job analyst: 1.Obtains background information about the program and its components (learning objectives and curriculum examples). 2.Meets with individuals knowledgeable about the requirements of the program. 3.Skill Analysis: identifies the objectives of the curriculum that require the skill. 4.Skill levels are determined: for entering the program, and which levels are necessary for successful completion of the program.

One hundred and six (106) Health Career program instructors and their supervisors at twenty-nine (29) Oklahoma Career Tech Centers were notified of the curriculum profile session and invited to participate. The Career Technology Centers represented in the curriculum profile are: Francis Tuttle Technology Center, Mid-Del Technology Center, Northwest Technology Center, Pioneer Technology Center, Tulsa Technology Center, and Western Technology Center.

Those who were not able to participate may review these findings for use in their programs.

Materials used in the classroom that Health Career Core Curriculum students must read and understand in order to learn and then perform health care tasks and that address the learning objectives include: content from course textbooks: (e.g., Introduction to Health Science Technology, The Human Body in Health & Disease, Introduction to Medical Terminology, Structure and Function of the Body, DHO Health Science); narrative content in instructor materials including course syllabi, worksheets, tests, quizzes; National tests: National Consortium Health Science; etc…..

The Locating Information skill is used to accomplish 58% of the objectives on the compiled Learning Objectives list. Objectives which involve learning experiences that require the Locating Information skill include: analyze diagrams, charts, graph, and tables to interpret healthcare results, identify methods and types of data collected in healthcare, create documentation in the health record that reflects timeliness completeness and accuracy, etc….
