A TRESURE TROVE OF FAMILY HISTORY “Newspapers are the day-to-day (or week-to-week) diaries of community events.” The Source, Provo, Ancestry, 2006, p. 563. Newspapers provide a chronicle of the successes, failures, and everyday lives of the people of a community.

CURRENT NEWSPAPERS Current-day local news and events. Try to be more objective. Editorial comment usually assigned to a few pages of letters and opinion pieces.

OLDER NEWSPAPERS Abundance of personal news and social items. Reporting not as objective as today. Lots of gossip and scandal reporting and opinion. Flowery language.
