U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Kansas Ecological Services Field Office Resources In 2016, the Service employs approximately 9,000 people at facilities across the United States. The Service is a decentralized organization with a headquarters office in Washington, D.C. with regional and field offices across the country. The 2016 President’s budget request for the Service totals $2.966 billion, including: Current appropriations of $1.6 billion, and $1.4 billion available under permanent appropriations, most of which will be provided directly to States for fish and wildlife restoration and conservation The Mission The mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is working with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Trust Resources Migratory birds Species proposed or listed under the Endangered Species Act, and their habitats Inter-jurisdictional fishes Specific marine mammals Wetlands National Wildlife Refuge System lands 26
