Context of changes Sept 2014 new curriculum – raised expectations Revised NC will be assessed for the first time this year in May 2016 Applies to all pupils at the end of KS1 and KS2 (yr2 and 6) New curriculum, new standards, new tests

Scaled Scores Used for reporting National Curriculum test outcomes Scaled scores help test results to be reported consistently and maintain meaning over time 2 pupils achieving the same scaled score in different years will have demonstrated the same attainment National Standard will be 100 Raw score that equates to 100 might be different each year

Reporting scaled scores Raw score will be translated to scaled score using a conversion table Pupils will receive a raw score, scaled score and confirmation of attainment of the national standard

KS1 tests Reading 2 papers – 1 with text and questions combined, (30 mins)1 with more challenging text with questions in a separate booklet (40 mins) Texts will be unrelated 2 different text types Greater focus on comprehension Grammar, punctuation and spelling One short answer paper 15 mins One spelling test - complete sentences with word missing 20 mins Emphasis on technical aspects of grammar No English writing test

Mathematics 2 papers (1 arithmetic 20 mins, 1 mathematical reasoning 35 mins) Arithmetic test to assess basic mathematical calculations No contextualised questions Questions will cover: -straightforward + and – (2 digits) -calculations with fractions x tables, 2,5,10 and 3,4
