Physical Development Gross Motor Development – running, jumping, balancing, climbing, throwing and catching. Developmental Milestone for Preschoolers: Stop, start and change directions Walk up and down stairs with alternating feet. Balance on a beam. Hop 10 times on one foot. Swing on a swing by themselves.

Physical Development Fine Motor Development: Using small muscles to draw, zip, cut with scissors, snap, tie and mold with clay. Fine Motor skills Milestones: Hold a pencil Write letters Draw a picture Cut with scissors String beads Button large buttons Zip a zipper Eat with a fork and spoon

Physical Development Preschooler need: Food – Good nutrition Sleep - 8 to 10 hours

Cognitive Development Brain development Perception-based thinking – child cannot use logic to correct a misconception ( they can be fooled) Unidimensional thought - child cannot multitask. Irreversibility – child does not realize some processes can be undone. Transductive Reasoning – when a child makes up cause and effects. (Like they caused the rain) Egocentrism – Inability to think like someone else.
