1 Design II (Final Project – a Capstone) Parish Center Design, Integrating program & form Program Statement: St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic in Mystic, CT is proposing a study of its existing structures and an overall master plan. A driving element of this is the removal and replacement of the Catholic Center, a 1956 structure that no longer functions adequately. This project is to:  Create a Site Plan showing your proposed new Catholic Center;  Provide Floor Plan and Elevation Designs of your solution;  Provide evidence of your design exploration (story board);  Present an effective presentation (a massing model is allowed). Project Details: The New Parish Center program is as follows: Final Presentations are Thursday, May12th. Due April 21 st  Concept Site Layout  Concept Floor Plan(s)  Imagery Sketch (vignette) This means pen-sketch style architectural drawings showing your “big idea” and big-picture design solution. Due April 28 th  Developed Site Layout  Developed Floor Plan(s)  Imagery Sketch (vignette) This means new and additional drawings that show reaction to your design exploration and the design “process”. Due May 5 th  Blocked-out Final Site Plan  Blocked-out Final Floor Plan(s)  Blocked-out Final Elevations  Blocked Massing Model This means you’ve started your final drawings and have brought plans, sections, and elevations up to pre-finished level. Due May 12 th (Final crits):  Final Site Plan, (labeled neatly)  Final Floor Plan(s), “ “  Final Elevation Views, “ “  Final Massing Model  Story Board ( show design progress! ) Dress well and bring any guests you’d like to have attend.
