Students will write formulas and name compounds formed by ionic bonds. The student will distinguish what charge a transition metal has based on the bonded atoms. Get out your periodic tables.

Rules : 1. Name the cation (transition metal) 2. Place the charge of the transition metal as a roman numeral (calculate this value) 3. Name the anion by changing the ending to “ide” How to determine the charge…..switcheroo backwards Cr 2 O 3 NiCl 2 Mn 3 As 2 Exception: FeO
