9 ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT FOR CEng An accredited Bachelors degree with honours in engineering or technology, plus either an appropriate Masters degree accredited by a professional engineering institution, or appropriate further learning to Masters level or an accredited integrated MEng degree For degrees started in 1999 or later

10 ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT FOR IEng An accredited Bachelors or honours degree in engineering or technology or a Higher National Certificate or Diploma or a Foundation Degree in engineering or technology, plus appropriate further learning to degree level or an NVQ4 or SVQ4 which has been approved for the purpose by a licensed engineering institution For degrees started in 1999 or later

11 ACADEMIC REQUIREMENT FOR EngTech  there are a variety of educational routes which meet the educational requirements. These include; National Certificates and Diplomas, NVQs or SVQs at level 3, a full engineering- related Modern Apprenticeship programme. Potential candidates are advised to contact the Institute to discuss.

12 ICP Individual Case Procedure ‘Bundle’ of qualifications / experience are assessed by Membership Committee Ask!!

13 TECHNICAL REPORT ROUTE Different way of applying for CEng Extra words needed (see table) to meet academic requirement. Ask!!

19 MENTORING Mentor should be at least MIMMM CEng Preferably not your Boss! Regular Meetings every 3-6 months Keep a Record See Guidelines!

20 WHAT’S INVOLVED ? Regular contact with your mentor – does not have to be face to face Mentor to be familiar with the current regula- lations eg UK SPEC and application process Understand the Competences required, assist in identifying any gaps( using the Checklist we produce) and how within the constraints of the business these may be plugged and over what time frame Should not be too onerous or time consuming for mentor or mentee!
