Specification 3 For National Literacy Units at N3, N4, N5: (i)exemption from demonstrating any of the four assessed skills of reading, writing, listening or talking will not be a reasonable adjustment (ii)using human readers or scribes will not be reasonable adjustments, where reading and writing abilities are explicitly assessed.

CfE National Literacy Units Reading: ‘extra’ time, dictionary, adapted text e.g. larger print, coloured background, friendlier font size, friendlier font style, word processor. Writing: ‘extra’ time, dictionary, word processor with spellcheck, autocorrect. Listening/Talking: lip reading. Topics: boring? Change!

CfE National Literacy Units Reading: text/screen reader, practical assistant, prompter, scribe. Writing: word prediction, voice activated software, transcription without correction, practical assistant, prompter, human reader. Listening/Talking: British Sign Language.
