1 Literacy Focus Aims: To understand the rules of how to use the literacy focus in your work. To become aware of the importance of using the literacy focus accurately in your work in every lesson. To understand the school marking code.

2  You will notice a poster displaying the literacy focus in every classroom. This is to remind you of the rules and to make sure you are using the literacy focus accurately every lesson.  Your use of the literacy skill in lessons will be monitored by your teachers. If your teacher notices you using the literacy focus incorrectly, they will mark your book with the code that refers to the literacy focus. For example, if you see ‘C’ in your book next to a word, it stands for capital letters and shows you have used them incorrectly/have forgotten to use them.  Look in your homework diaries if you need to familiarise yourself with the marking code. How it works

3  The next slide will give you an example of a sentence that has not used capital letters and full stops correctly.  The corrected version of the sentence will appear beneath.  Your form tutor will go through the rules you need to follow on the next slide to make sure you are using capital letters and full stops correctly.
